The Bauer brothers are not really into modest
packaging. And why should they be? Their
wines are convincing, so they are within their
rights to give them slightly outrageous names – even
if labels like “No Sex” and “Aber geil” can split opinions.
As long as the Sauvignon Blanc “Insomnia”
from the Walsheimer Silberberg site is so finely balanced,
and the Viognier “Beachball” from the Nussdorfer
Herrenberger site is so complex that you barely
believe that it was made here in the Pfalz – since this
variety usually only reaches its greatest heights in the
Rhône – everything is fine. To put it in a nutshell: this
traditional estate lives and breathes innovation –
and does so with aplomb. Congratulations!

Sauvignon Blanc trocken
Medium lemon yellow. Scents of grapefruit, ripe peach and
lime. On the palate flavours of violets, passion fruit and lemon
zest integrate well. Medium weight body is balanced by
fine and lively acidity. Long finish. 12,5 Vol.-%. screwcap, €€€

Viognier trocken
Complex nose with ripe peach, nutmeg, ripe pear and honeysuckle.
On the palate, flavours of violet, redcurrants leaf,
mandarine and dill as well as orange zest. Good substance,
very well supported by fine acidity and with a long finish.

An intense aroma of dark cherry, blueberry and clove. On the
palate black pepper, ripe plum and aniseed are to the fore.
The rather young tannin and the fruit are supported by lively
acidity. A lot of elegance and at the same time a very complete
wine. 14 Vol.-%. cork

Medium ruby. On the nose there’s an almost subtle scent of
raspberry, cherry and tomato leaf. On the palate also flavours
of sweet strawberry, blueberry and aniseed, balanced
by fresh and lively acidity. Fine, still young tannin. An exciting
GSM blend. 14 Vol.-%. cork
