The Köhr family has made wine since
1648 and the Ruppertsberger Nussbien
site (their main vineyard) has been in
their possession for the past 200 years. Dr. C.
K. Josef Köhr took over the running of the estate
with the 2019 vintage. After graduating
from Geisenheim and various stints abroad,
Köhr has broken new ground: the grapes are
harvested late to achieve more intense aroma.
The wines are made and matured in a mix of
stainless steel, big barrels and barriques. We
tasted an exciting range of wines and are positively
curious about the future developments
in Ruppertsberg!

Sauvignon Blanc Spätlese trocken
As the name implies smoke plays a role on the nose, along
with redcurrants, lots of intense spice and some green pepper.
Quite powerful on the palate with a lot of volume and
substance, the wood is tied in nicely. Needs time in bottle,
will be very special. 14,5 Vol.-%. cork, €€
90 2015 »Casameo« trocken CS/ME
Blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. On the nose, black
cherry and blackberry, dark aromas, forest floor and pine resin.
Vivid on the palate with well integrated acidity, clear and
ripe fruit, supple tannins. Powerful structure, well done.

Nussbien Riesling Spätlese trocken
Deep yellow. Concentrated ripe apricot, mango and papaya
fragrance, discreet petrol tone. Ripe, concentrated fruit on
the palate underpinned by a ripe, spicy acidity, also ripe citrus
fruit and texture; firm structure, good extract, multi-faceted.

Gewürztraminer Spätlese trocken
The scent of rose petals is accompanied by delicate smoke.
The palate shows an exciting combination of exotic fruit fullness
(mango and papaya) and wood ageing. Strong, firm
structure, still needs some time to find itself. Good potential,
interesting. 13,5 Vol.-%. cork, €€
90 2019 Hambach Riesling trocken
Ripe stone fruit on the nose, apricot and peach, also apple
and bergamot. Well balanced on the palate with ripe, integrated
acidity. Compact construction. Ripe passion fruit
gives elegance, juice and texture. Medium extract, mineral
spice - classically beautiful. 13 Vol.-%, DIAM, €
