Peter Pröbstl studied economics at the University
of Regensburg and has worked in food retail
ever since graduating. After a distribution job
for one of the German discount stores he
joined Edeka’s buying team in 2011 and has
been responsible for wine buying since 2012 –
this way he can combine work, expertise and
pleasure perfectly.
CLAUDIA RETTER
Sommelier-legend,
Lütjensee
Claudia Retter worked her wonders at various
notable temples of gastronomy after finishing
her certified sommelier training in Munich in
2004. Since 2009 she has run her family’s longstanding
business, Restaurant and Hotel Zur
Fischerklause on Lake Lütjen near Hamburg.
Busche Publishing has numbered Retter among
Germany’s 50 best sommeliers several times.
ELENA SCHEER
Gastronomic whirlwind and
sommelier-to-be, Geisenheim
Elena Scheer, born in 1998, tells us that she ‘is up
to a lot:’ she studies international wine business
in Geisenheim, is about to become a certified
sommelier and moonlights at the two-Michelinstarred
Sosein Restaurant in Nuremberg. Any
time leftover is spent on various internships –
like at Noma in copenhagen or in Falstaff’s
editorial offices. Restricting herself to speaking
‘high German only’ is not something this
