The Poss family have dedicated themselves
whole-heartedly to Pinot-varieties.
Thus they craft wines that come
with harmony and depth. No matter whether
they come in a classic style, supported by beautiful
phenolics like the single-site wines, or
whether there is just a touch of something classic
in the experimental and skin-fermented
“vogelfrei” series. What we like in particular
about the wines in this latter series is that they
do not frighten off those who prefer more conventional
wines, harmony is always a given.
Quite apart from that, the wines are totally
versatile with food.

Grauer Burgunder trocken
Light golden appearance. Ripe and complex aromas, berries
with hints of old-school Ruländer. On the palate, supple,
plump, a round Spätlese body with a little bit of wood, plus
mealy phenolics. Shows the charming side of the variety with
an extra pinch of tension. 14 Vol.-%. cork, €€€

Weissburgunder trocken
Fresh aroma of salty liquorice, crunchy pear, but also Pinot
berries. On the palate silky and poised, mildly flowing with
ripe yet firm acidity. A charming Pinot Blanc full of texture
and pronounced fruitiness, great length. 14 Vol.-%. cork, €€

Landwein trocken
A black tea colour with brownish undertones. Fragrant, quite
Pinot berry-like with hints of rosehip. Mealy phenolics in high
quantity, drive, also a creamy foundation, mild acidity,
poised, ripe and round and a very good palate structure. Gripping
tannic finish. 14 Vol.-%. cork, €€€

Intensely chocolatey on the nose, some blackberry and a hint
of cinnamon. Creamy base, fine-grained tannins, quite round
and juicy, powerful alcohol but very well covered by extract
with mild acidity, full and long. Showing iinitial hints of evolution
but also with further potential. 14 Vol.-%. cork, €€€
