Each year, this Riesling “Furztrocken!”
(this translates into ‘as dry as a fart’) attracts
attention – and that is not solely
down to its bold and memorable name. Once
again in 2019 it shows verve and phenolic grip
and has long since become a trademark for
Achim Reis. His 2017 Riesling from the Winninger
Uhlen site shines – beautifully evolved
and a fitting contrast with its concentration
and depth. Last but not least, the exquisite
TBA from the Würzgarten proves that Achim
Reis can do Riesling in all its facets. Great performance!

Deep yellow in the glass, ripe apricot in the concentrated aroma,
also tangerine and some guava. With good concentration
on the palate, slightly viscous with a fine, ripe acidity with the
recurrence of ripe fruit and a dash of petrol. Minerality, elegance
and with depth. 13 Vol.-%. cork, €€

90 2018 Bremm Calmont Riesling
Strong yellow in the glass, concentrated on the nose, apple
and caramelised apricot, blossom honey and warm stone
notes. Supple on the palate, juicy and textural, again some
hints of honey, precise acidity on a rather soft base with a
pleasant spicy minerality. 12,5 Vol.-%. cork, €€
96 2018 Ürzig Würzgarten Riesling
Trockenbeerenauslese
Sultana, apple, dried apple, mint and some slight hints of
botrytis. On the palate highly concentrated, intense fruit
sweetness, crunchy acidity, great tension, mineral character.
Very good balance and also length, substantial wine with finesse.

92 2017 »Von Alten Reben« Riesling
Flows wonderfully oily with a sunny yellow colour into the
glass, delicate ripe notes on the nose with cool herbal notes,
stone fruit, dark honey, beetroot and ripe quince. Delicious
freshness on the palate with lively sweetness. Incredibly
drinkable. 8 Vol.-%. cork, €€

Riesling trocken
Rich scents of wild honey, ripe apricot, hints of biscuit and
minerality. Taut and powerfully structured on the palate
with accentuated dryness, fresh and with verve, gripping
with straightforward acidity. Phenolic tartness, unembellished
and with a mineral foundation. 13 Vol.-%, cork, €€
