We can find much to praise in Sebastian
Schäfer’s successful 2019 vintage.
There is the layered Grosses
Gewächs from the Goldloch site, showing
ever-new facets with a little more breath of fresh
air. Then there is the Riesling from the Schlossberg
with its compelling nature and minerality;
or the light-footed and simultaneously serious
Kabinett from the Pittermännchen site which
draws you in rather quickly. The village Rieslings
from Dorsheim and Rümmelsheim know just
how to convince you, just as the GG does from
the Pittermännchen which still is entirely youthful.
In this case, patience is a real virtue.

Multi-layered bouquet with stone fruit, fine apricot, redcurrant
, apple, cumin and some citrus fruit. Juicy acidity on the
palate with fine phenolic astringency, herbal, tangerine and
grapefruit notes. Powerful and clearly contoured, with a fine
grip and finish. 13 Vol.-%. cork, €€€
change of pace from suppleness to drive, offering spice, minerality
and dynamic concentration. Intense yet light on its
feet, serious and yet playful. Superb. 8 Vol.-%. cork, €€

Primary aromatics of Mirabelle and lemon balm, stony and
floral notes with papaya in the background. On the palate,
full-bodied with spice and multi-layered ripe fruit. Behind the
classic Riesling expression there is beautiful minerality and
grippy tension. Put it away, this is going to be magnificent.

Yeasty-spicy on the nose, notes of large wooden barrels, still
very closed. On the palate there is concise density, wide and
broad on the midpalate, ripe acidity, a little carbon dioxide,

Beautiful nose of blossom, freshly grated citrus zest, peach,
apricot and redcurrant . On the palate there is a perfect

woody note. Spicy accentuated palate with lively acidity.
An honest wine of impressive balance and concentration,
exhibiting craftsmanship at a high level. This is how you do
