Klaus and Maj Britt Vorgrimmler run their
Demeter-certified winery just outside the
town of Freiburg. Their three hectares of
vines lie at the southern tip of the Tuniberg subregion
and are farmed according to biodynamic
principles. The fertile, warming loess soils lend
minerality, power and finesse to the wines. “For
more than 30 years now we have concerned ourselves
with the interplay of elements in the vineyard,
well beyond the beaten path, and with the
interaction between humans, nature and spirit,”
the couple reports. Their experience clearly shines
through, above all in the fabulous and expressive
Spätburgunders. A really special range of wines!

On the nose, the scent of yuzu and white pepper, also apple
and notes of yellow fruit. A style with character and fine
spice, but not overloaded. The acidity on the palate is fine
and well-integrated. Very pure and honest in its character.

Landwein trocken
Slightly animalistc with a wild note, dark fruit, wild berries,
leather and smoky notes; powerfully built on the palate, with
good substance and present acidity, which also sets the stylistic
line. The tannins are grippy, impetuous, somewhat wild
but just right. 13 Vol.-%. cork, €€€

Pure blackcurrants in the multi-layered aroma, plus a sweet
scent of black cherry and a somewhat ethereal scent of eucalyptus.
On the palate, the barrique ageing is noticeable.
Soft, not obtrusive, well-balanced and with depth.

Peppery notes and redcurrants jelly: The nose is very fresh
and yet with a certain complexity. Compact and firmly-built
on the palate, dry and puristic, has some edge, slight bitterness,
shows character - an interesting Pinot.

91 2019 Grauburgunder Landwein trocken
A very slender Pinot Gris, avoids any opulence, shows
freshness and presence. On the nose, white peach and a
hint of chamomile. On the palate, very intricate with hints
of spice and very finely-balanced. Quiet and natural, but simultaneoulsy
exciting. 12,5 Vol.-%, cork, €€
