Weingut Schuh, which is run by Matthias
Schuh and his sister Katharina
Pollmer, has invested in a modern
cellar over recent years. These efforts are
now starting to pay off and show in the quality
of the wines. Especially the single-site wines,
like the Riesling from the Meissener Kapitelberg
site which was matured in a Halbstück
barrel, and the Weissburgunder from the Meissener
Klausenberg site show good substance
and character. The “Pét Nat” of Scheurebe
shows experimental spirit, while the “Schuh”
series in white, pink and red guarantees drinking
pleasure at a good quality level.

Riesling trocken
Nutty and herbal notes on the nose, ripe stone fruit and mint,
fine smoke. Compactly-built on the palate, there is a firm
structure and good substance. Juicy, ripe acidity and spiciness
are balanced and nicely interwoven. Good use of wood,
will continue to mature. 13 Vol.-%. cork, €€

Weissburgunder trocken
Mirabelle on the nose, light tobacco, herbs, a fine malt note.
A powerful structure with substance and density. Juice and
spice come together on the palate, ripe and juicy acidity provides
balance. Dry, shows its provenance and has potential.

Clear yellow. On the nose black and redcurrant, lemon zest,
blackberry, stone fruit. Very lively acidity on the palate, fine,
unobtrusive mousse, currant, gooseberry, pear, fine phenolics,
plus citrus and lime juice. Crystalline.

Spätburgunder trocken
Spicy and herbal nose with lovage and thyme shows ripe red
fruit and rosehip, strong woody tone, some incense. The palate
shows sour cherry with an alert acidity, powerful and persistent
construction, still slightly astringent tannins.
