The Geil family has been local to Monzernheim
since the 18th century. Son Andreas
now runs the estate and takes it to the
future with great relish – underpinned by consistent
performance at a high quality level. Just
as in the previous year, we were quite smitten by
the off-dry Scheurebe in the litre bottle. Wine
does not have to be complicated to be fun – so
we turned it into our Falstaff-tip. Andreas Geil
also turned out great red wines, above all the
Bechtheimer St. Laurent from the 2018 vintage,
combining fine spice with a densely-woven
structure – it was just the perfect accompaniment
to a roasted saddle of venison.

Rich, clear dark red. Spicy nose with sloe and sweet cherry,
also some cinnamon and clove. On the palate fine tannins,
spicy cherry, sloe and also some smoke. Medium, elegant
structure, nice length, very well done.

Rich, clear cherry red. On the nose ripe fruit, plum, sweet
cherry, blackberry, some smoke and milk chocolate. On the
palate ripe, textured tannins, ripe red fruits, Amarena cherry,
powerful and with nice length, traditional.

Medium, clear yellow. On the nose some vanilla, fine smoke,
peach and apricot, with some citrus underneath. On the
palate fine texture, nice vein of acidity, ripe apple and some
hazelnut, good structure and length.

Clear, light yellow. On the nose elderflower and blackcurrant
with some citrus fruit. Medium acidity on the palate, juicy,
more elderberry and blackcurrant, some lively cherry, medium
length and structure. Attractive aperitif.

Bright, clear yellow. On the nose some smoke and blackcurrant.
On the palate fine citrus fruit, some elderberry,
cassis, mirabelle plum, harmonious acidity and finelyrounded.
Light and fresh, medium length, refreshing.
