Once again we can attest to a great performance
by the 215 cooperative
members who tend their vines in the
villages Rotenberg and Uhlbach. The Rieslings
have always been totally reliable here, but this
year it was the reds from the 2016 vintage that
took the top spots. The Pinot Noir has depth
and length, the “Réserve Cuvée” weaves Lemberger
and Bordeaux-varieties into a tapestry
of fruit and texture. If there is one thing we
could fault, it is more time for the white “Reserve”
wines before bottling. The 2019 are incredibly
youthful.
90 2019 »Réserve« Chardonnay trocken
Scents of corn, hay and a few subtle spicy-wood notes. On the
palate there is pithy, vintage-typical acidity and good substance,
still a little carbon dioxide from the fermentation
with good mineral notes. All in all still a bit young for a
Réserve quality - but with time could mellow into one.
13,5 Vol.-%. cork, €€
92 2016 »Réserve« Spätburgunder trocken
Aromas of smoky new wood, fig and small red berries. On the
palate, a lively, long-lasting acidity, animating juiciness with
insistent tactile mineral undertones, a nice interplay on the
palate, only the woody nuances need to mellow a little bit
longer. 13,5 Vol.-%. cork, €€
92 2016 »Réserve Cuvée Wirtemberg«
trocken ME/CF/CS
Scents of ripe blackcurrant, tobacco, fir tree resin and roasted
coffee. Supple and broad on the palate, followed by sweet
fruit with seamlessly-integrated acidity and clear mineral
undertones. Fruit and woody nuances flourish on the animating
finish. 14 Vol.-%. cork, €€
90 2017 »Salucci« trocken
PN/SY/CS/ME/CU/CF
Aroma of cassis, mint, herbs and a hint of smoked bacon. Taut,
slightly grainy tannins, firm acidity while the core of the wine
still seems compact and tangy. Good, dense fruity finish, accompanied
by tactile mineral perceptions. 13,5 Vol.-%. screwcap, €
89 2019 »Alte Reben« Riesling trocken
89 2019 »Réserve« Sauvignon Blanc trocken
88 2019 »325 n.n.« Weissburgunder
Chardonny trocken
87 2019 »Cuvée Blanc« trocken SB/KR/PG
89 2017 »Réserve« Syrah trocken
89 2018 »289 n.n.« Lemberger trocken
88 2017 Pinot Noir trocken
89 2019 Grauburgunder trocken
Scents of yeast, slightly spicy notes of grass clippings, then
also Pinot berry nuances. Silky, smooth on the palate, with
very fine carbon dioxide regulated fermentation tones and
a vivacious transition into the well-enriched mineral finish.
Proportioned and tasty. 13 Vol.-%, screwcap, €
