The new VDP-member estate did really
well in our tastings: The three single-site
Rieslings from the Appenheimer
Hundertgulden, the Binger Scharlachberg
and the Siefersheimer Heerkretz compete for
pole position – for us, it is the Heerkretz that
takes the crown, as the most complete of these
three wines. Yet, the generous Hundertgulden
and the firm, mineral contours of the Scharlachberg
lend expression to their provenance
in an equally compelling fashion. At this quality
level we can see that the fourth star is within
reach.

Apple and yellow fruit mingle with rocky mineral notes on
the nose, also herbs, apricot, beeswax and floral fragrance.
Compact and well-balanced on the palate, the delicious acidity
is well-integrated, mineral, spicy and deeply satisfying.

Yellow fruit and ripe apple, apricot, yellow flowers, broom
and mango, also herbs and warm stone. The palate is
well-balanced, powerful built with clear definition; ripe,
well-woven acidity, with juiciness, texture and minerality.
This has real charm and presence. 13 Vol.-%. cork, €€€

Riesling GG
Complex multi-layered nose with apricot and peach, apple,
floral notes, spice and hints of chalky minerality. Juicy and
creamy on the palate, good substance and density on a soft
foundation, fine acidity, limestone minerality, consistent and
elegant. 13 Vol.-%. cork, €€€

Riesling Auslese
Medium, clear yellow. On the nose dried fruits, dried apricot,
lime zest, fine. On the palate well-balanced acidity and
sweetness, ripe citrus fruits, pear, fine structure and nice
length. Harmonious and with potential. 7 Vol.-%. cork, €€€
91 2018 »Réserve« Weissburgunder trocken
Fine and clear on the nose with notes of stone, some smokiness
and subtle wood spice. Flowing on the palate with
mineral grip, fresh yellow fruit, almond, freshly-grated citrus
zest and chiselled acid structure. Elegant and balanced
with a fine finish. 14 Vol.-%, cork, €€€
