This year, Theresa Breuer presents us with
a fireworks display from the Rüdesheimer
Berg: the 2019 wines from Berg Rottland
and Schlossberg show themselves with
such ripe fruit, and such subtle and fine texture.
This can only happen when a highly impressive
site and a very talented winemaker coincide.
Her 2016 Riesling from Berg Roseneck shines
with an almost timeless stillness. The counterpoint,
ever since the takeover of Weingut Altenkirch,
is no longer represented just by the wines
from Rauenthal – now there is Lorch, too: the
Riesling from the Pfaffenwies site immediately
captured the hearts of all our tasters.

Initial expression on the nose has undertones of vine peach,
grape and candied orange peel. On the palate, silky with lively,
finely chiselled acidity, with delicious sweetness and vivid
fruit. Moderate alcohol, subtle minerality, immense finely-derived
extract. 12 Vol.-%, cork, €€€€

Starting with warm tones of chamomile and almond, then
rather floral, light notes on the palate. Wonderfully integrated
acidity, dense extract, light and deft in the mouth, has tension
and drive, with an unbelievable ageing potential.

A wine that offers very ripe yellow fruit aromas which are
perfectly supported by the still-lively acidity. Tension and
composure united in an impressive Riesling that still has potential

Concise nose reminiscent of ripe pineapple. On the palate,
hints of green tea and ripe tropical fruits. All is held together
by ripe acidity and fine, gentle minerality. A Riesling that already

On the nose, vine peach and light rose notes with some
spice. On the palate, clear, crunchy acidity and an animating
minerality. A wonderful blend of precise fruit and mineral
