This year, Gesine Roll surprised us with a
“Grande Réserve” of Sauvignon Blanc
that really is deserving of the designation
“grande” as well as with a Chardonnay. With
that much limestone in the glass, the grape varieties
almost play no part any longer. The other
wines, too, show that this estate is in top form:
the coolness of the elevated site of Monzernheim
and the limestone of Westhofen are transformed
into elegance and poise. Her Sauvignon
“Terra Rossa” is our Falstaff-tip: the red soil
lends both body and spice to the wine. You are
hard-pushed to find such an expressive terroir-driven
Sauvignon elsewhere for EUR 18.00!

Yellow fruit, discreet smokiness, limestone minerality, spice
and bright blossom. Balanced on the palate with subtle power
and texture from the fine tannic grip. Citric juicy acidity
and delicious saltiness add to the multi-layered, deep and effortless

Nuanced and balanced, depth without heaviness.
Stone-dusted minerality and intricate texture. Delicate
fruit sweetness on the palate with notes of grass, gooseberry,
tangerine zest and passion fruit. Citrusy-juicy acid
structure. Finesse meets juice and vivaciousness.

Fine toasty notes, ripe fruit, yellow apple, some almond, fine
minerality and spiciness. Well-balanced, intricate palate,
clear and flowing with a fine density. Filigree texture, lively

Riesling trocken
Lively wine with fresh vine peach, mandarin, meadow flowers,
wet stone and fine herbs. Well-balanced palate with
much focus on the delicious citrusy, salty acidity. Moreish.

Compact, complex and lively nose with smoky, mineral,
gooseberry, passion fruit and fine spice. On the palate juicy
