Allendorf, knows how to handle
wood. Most of the Rieslings are matured
in large barrels in order to gain structure
– without losing any of their charm. Ulrich Allendorf
presented no less than three Riesling
Grosse Gewächse from the 2018 vintage – and
his Riesling from the Hasensprung site is a
great example of the house style: balanced
power, dense and yet full of finesse. The Auslese
from the same site is equally exquisite –
and great Spätburgunder is made here as well.

Smoky notes in the powerful aroma; liquorice, ripe stone
fruit, floral hints, also pepper. On the palate there is a powerful
structure: spicy, ripe acidity, good density on the midpalate,
poised. Keeps everything well-balanced to display elegance.

Riesling GG
Nomen est omen (the name says it all): Smells of roses and
ripe peach, also fine smoke. Good concentration on the palate,
with sweetish juice and texture, almost opulent, yet
clearly structured in texture. Medium tension, beautiful minerality
leads into the finish. 12,5 Vol.-%, cork, €€€

Concentrated aroma of ripe stone fruit, apple and spice box.
Juicy on the palate with quite zippy acidity, but compact texture,
with medium concentration, slightly phenolic tartness
and mineral hue. Peppery-spicy finish.

Riesling Auslese
Rich, bright yellow. On the nose dried fruits, candied lime and
orange, dried apricot, blossom honey, citrus freshness. Powerful
on the palate, sweetness and acidity in balance, citrus fruit,
passion fruit, well built, long, nice elegance, distinctive phenolics.
