When Ana and Reinfried Pohl took
over the reins at this long-standing
estate in September 2010, they renamed
it after the historic site Nil which today
has been incorporated into the Kallstadter
Saumagen. From a total of 30 hectares of vines
in and around Kallstadt, they make wines
which transmit the limestone-characterised
terroir excellently. They have 3.7 hectares
within the top sites Saumagen and Herrenberg
– the Riesling from this clay-influenced site
shines with balance and length, the Spätburgunder
from the Saumagen is complex and has
much potential.

Clear lemon yellow, a fine fragrance of ripe red apple and
lemon zest. On the palate there are flavours of blackcurrant
leaf, lychee and a light note of white pepper. Well balanced
with lively acidity and a long finish. 13,5 Vol.-%. cork, €€€

Medium lemon yellow. On the nose a fine scent of lemon zest,
lime and yellow apple. On the palate flavours of ripe peach,
lime, nectarine, green apple and tomato leaf, all balanced by
expressive acidity - a good finish. 13 Vol.-%. cork, €€

Medium lemon yellow. Intense scent of ripe apple, pear, bacon.
On the palate extended by flavours of lemon, lime and
peach, poised by pleasing acidity. The wine has an exciting,
unusual complexity and a good length.

Spätburgunder trocken
On the nose the initially slightly smoky nose develops into
complex aromas of sour cherry, young raspberry and clove.
On the palate also redcurrants, wet stone and mushrooms
with well integrated acidity. Has ageing potential.

herbaceous Riesling aromas. Fresh and exciting on the palate,
