Klaus Scherner, despite his reticent and
shy nature, has a very loyal fan base
that appreciates his approach. His
wines always have clear varietal fruit expression,
are made without technical frills in the
cellar and are priced in a way that is fair and
friendly. Whether or not the Riesling from the
Bürgel site could have done with a little less residual
sweetness is arguable – but Scherner
will not make his wines jump through hoops
in order to make them ferment every last trace
of sugar. With a little more bottle age, this
sweetness will be quite charming in the end.
Hence: way to go!

Citrus-fresh on the nose and a little limestone-spicy, On the
palate there is a juicy acidic nerve and a rather generous
sweetness that relegates the mineral components to second
place. The fruit is very fresh and precise, the structure fine
and elegant. 13 Vol.-%. cork

Slightly nutty on the nose, dried flowers and flax. On the palate
there is beautiful substance, fine-boned with discreet
carbon dioxide freshness, not overly fat, not too slender, an
unobtrusive, unaffected food wine with discreetly-salty

Sauvignon Blanc trocken
A floral, herbal fragrance with green gooseberry. Fresh and
tangy on the palate, good density, juicy tension, nice mineral
hue, a very pleasant refreshing drink, and by no means only in

91 2018 »Cuvée J« trocken CS/PN/CI
Clear new wood, elderberry jam and blackcurrant, redcurrant
leaves, pepper and menthol. Full and rich on the palate,
with grainy, ripe tannin in sufficient quantity. With ripe acidity
and fresh, juicy fruit on the finish. Good potential.

Notes of raspberry and wild strawberry on the nose, some
citrus fruit, floral notes and fine spiciness. Creamy and
juicy on the palate with ripe acidity and fine mousse, slender
construction, fine sweet fruit on the palate. Neat expression.
