We have bundled together more
than 40 years of Sekt know-how,’’
report Kai Maschtschenko and
Matthias Schreml who run their ‘SektManufaktur’
(sparkling wine manufacture) in Waldlaubersheim,
the only Sekthaus on the Nahe
that dedicates itself exclusively to traditional
method sparkling wine. Of course the pair
also offers their Sektmaking services to others,
after all, Maschtschenko used to work for
Raumland’s mobile Sekt-bottling unit. His experience
is evident in the Sekts they presented,
especially in the very complex “Grand Cuvée
Reserve”.
90 2016 »Grande Cuvée Reserve« brut nature
Deep, finely complex nose, subtle fruit, smoky mineral notes
and stone dust. On the palate light, juicy-sweet fruit, fine wood
notes, fresh acidity, fine spice and light bitter notes of citrus
zest. Unembellished and also with depth. 12,5 Vol.-%. DIAM, €€€
89 NV Chardonnay brut
Round, fine, somewhat powdery stone dust, a little smoke and
light hint of peach on the nose. Fresh on the palate with lively
sweetness and fine mousse. Nuances of red apple, a little
stone fruit, orange blossom and zest emerge too on the palate.
Fine acidic structure, well-balanced. 12,5 Vol.-%. DIAM, €€
88 NV Pinot Meunier brut
Bright fruit, fine spice and stone dust on the nose, plus
blossom scents and a hint of caraway. Complex on the palate,
slightly creamy, yet fresh and juicy. Tart, herbal notes,
discreet sweetness, citrus fruit, some stone fruit, fine bitter
tones and juiciness into the finish.
12,5 Vol.-%. DIAM, €€
88 NV Pinot Blanc brut
Rather restrained fragrance with blossom scents, light fruit
and also a hint of spice. On the palate there is fine mousse,
creamy hints, but nothing opulent. Fine fruit sweetness, tart
herbs, juiciness and smooth, discreet acidity. Balanced and
coherent. 12,5 Vol.-%. DIAM, €€
89 »Pinot Blanc de Noir« brut NV
Rich nose with floral scents followed by yellow fruit, apricot
and also some stone dust. Creamy on the palate, ripe
yellow fruit and notes of bitter orange. Taut mousse, moderate
acidity that works itself in evenly. A rounded wine
with fine fruit and spiciness. 12,5 Vol.-%, DIAM, €€
