Lothar Schwörer is one of the winemakers
who focus on the essentials, namely
the work in vineyard and cellar. You
will not find any marketing gimmicks or elaborate
designs here. He pursues a calm and serene
wine style which aims to depict the limestone
soils of Schmieheim. Every single wine is
clearly structured and comes with harmonious
balance. The chalky, mineral savouriness
sits just as well with his white wines, like the
creamy Chardonnay “Kalksteinfels”, as with
the red wines, of which the Spätburgunder
“Vulcano” with its power and spice impressed
us especially.

On the nose aromas of citrus fruit, woody notes and chalky
mineral spice, sunflowers, chamomile. Opens with juice and
spice on the palate, powerful construction, dense, again
chalky mineral spice and creaminess, present and wellintegrated
acidity, good potential for further maturity.

Spicy nose with balsamic notes, cherry and herbs, also wood
spice, bay leaf and juniper berry. With fine maturity on the
palate, multi-layered, spicy in a powerful structure, well balanced
with a ripe, distinct acidity, ripe tannins, mineral. Pairs

Cherry on the nose, blackcurrant, some sage and chamomile
and notes of balsamic spice. Shows Baden virtues with a
powerful composition and lots of spice, sweet extract, powerful
tannins and a ripe acidity. Well-balanced.
