– Nico Scholtens has numerous talents.
Far in the east of the Franken winelands,
almost in Bamberg, this passionate winemaker
guards great treasure: a vineyard planted to
a field blend in 1910. Various grape varieties,
apparently more than a dozen, are co-planted
in a colourful mix. The wines Scholtens makes
from them are liquid cultural monuments –
that somehow styled slightly against the zeitgeist,
but delicious and worth exploring in
their unadulterated artisanal style. All the other
wines show just as much character.

Fragrant honey notes and fine shimmering hues in the glass.
On the palate, fresh hay and white berries contribute to a
juicy flow, the wine is soft and tart, simultaneously, in any
case incredibly idiosyncratic and absolute. Appears young

Scents of fragrant blossoms with floral notes, apricot and a
dash of mint. On the palate, gripping with fresh acidity, slender
and straightforward, also with a dollop of charm. An unembellished
Sekt, showing qualities as an aperitif and as a

A distinct sparkle in the glass, cautiously fragrant, herbaceous
with varietal spiciness. Harmoniously fine, tart acidity
with a little residual sweetness and nuances of grapefruit
peel on the finish. A juicy aftertaste.

Very beautiful light copper colour shimmers in appearance.
Scents of white honey, nasturtium and rapeseed blossom. On
the palate light and juicy, a bit tart and not to be taken for

Fränkischer Satz Landwein tr.
A typical field blend, and not an aromatic grenade, with a fairly
arduous chore identifying the aroma from these varieties. One
can detect scents of caraway and emerging notes of something
ripe and something green. Then on the palate a burst of
pithy acidity and at the same time immense juiciness. Very exciting
and polarising, extraordinary! 12,5 Vol.-%, cork, €€€
