That’s what we call a vertical take-off:
Vincent Eymann, not even 29 years old,
presented his wines for tasting for the
first time and we immediately nominated him
as our “newcomer of the year” (see page 22).
Eymann’s father Rainer was among Germany’s
organic farming pioneers in the 1980s. He
started farming biodynamically in 2003 and
from 2016 onwards, the estate has been a
member of Demeter. Vincent Eymann farms
18 hectares, his focus is on Riesling, Spätburgunder
and sparkling wine. His wines show a
grandiose natural balance and depth. Compliments!

Riesling trocken
Closed on the nose; discreet citrus fruit, mineral and spicy
notes. Supple approach on the palate, poised style, very
fine acidity, mineral and multi-layered. Still very young with
authentic site expression and finesse. Very good potential.

toasted aromas but at just the right measure. Well integrated
wood. Made with a good sense of style.

Citrusy on the nose, candied lemon peel and light stone
fruit. Powerful palate - juicy with vivid acidity, good fruit;
there’s a gracefulness despite its power and a very fine layer
of phenolics. Mineral tinged, still youthful.

Pinot Noir trocken
Pinot scented; spicy wood, cherry and pinot berry fruit. On
the palate dense, ripe tannins, almost meaty in impression
and then an incredibly fine, elegant spiciness and clear
mineral definition. Great potential for further ageing.

91 2018 »Toreye« Spätburgunder trocken
Nuances of wood, closed, slightly spicy, red berries and
spicy Pinot fruit in the background. The palate is full bodied
but light-hearted with almond tones, cocoa and lightly
89 2019 Gönnheim Riesling trocken
Nectarine, intense yellow fruit including peach on the
nose. On the palate there is lively acidity, straightforward
construction with a hint of sweetness and with yellow-fruited
notes. Medium weight in extract and fullness,
tasty and balanced. Good length, a proper estate Riesling.
