Let’s take the Weissburgunder from the
Sasbacher Limburg site to illustrate
Arne and Martin Bercher’s concept: this
wine, to be had for a mere EUR 15.50, just
stands with a sort of self-assurance that many
a Grosse Gewächs struggles to attain. What
may come across as an understatement is in
fact estate philosophy. The Berchers set high
standards for every wine, from the estate
wines, via the (actually stupendous) rosé all
the way to the top wines, bursting with tension
and complexity. The consequences are wonderful:
in this house you can simply trust every
single wine.

Subtle wood spice, berry varietal aromas, good ripeness and
clarity. On the palate there is a fair bit of volume, but also
with a fine, nervy and substantial counterbalance, pervaded
by minerality; never losing sight of the fullness of the variety

Beautiful brilliance in the glass, elegant, very delicate, fragrant
nose of citrus notes. On the palate strong acidity with
restrained fruit, but an enormously dense mouthfeel with a
lot of length, texture and minerality. The wine seems incredibly
young and thus has a lot ahead of it. 13,5 Vol.-%. cork, €€

Spätburgunder Rosé trocken
Exciting: the opaque bottle protects the rosé, in the glass
delicate strawberry red with copper-gold reflections. Vinous
nose with delicate fruit and also smoky notes. On the palate
juicy opulence with freshness and depth - an elegant rosé.

Rich in nuances: floral notes, tree resin, wild strawberry. Mealy
tannin texture on a supple base, sweet fruit, well-defined tactile
minerality and then lots of juiciness on the finish as the extract
tension is released. Lots of substance in a gentle guise!
