Riesling is the reason why so many generations
have lived and worked at the Mosel,”
reports cellar master Philipp Buchkremer
of Weingut Böcking. The estate’s seven
hectares of vines are scattered mainly around the
top steep sites of Trarbach, Ungsberg, Burgberg,
Schlossberg and Taubenhaus where grapes can
only be harvested by hand. It is especially the
Riesling from Ungsberg that proves the great potential
of this particular site with its elegance,
mineral depth and almost Burgundian grace. The
off-dry Riesling Taubenhaus shows the typical
filigree interplay of sweetness and acidity. With
wines like these you just want to refill your glass!

Apple, mint and stone fruit on the slowly opening nose, with
a hint of lemon balm. Softly opening on the palate with finely
chiselled acidity and velvety elegance, also substance and
phenolic layers. Depicting almost light Burgundian impressions
and mineral depth. 13,5 Vol.-%. cork, €€€

Apricot, fine smoke, liquorice and caramel on the nose. Powerfully
built on the palate with good density and good extract,
structurally marked and with mineral flair. Appears
firm and still closed due to barrique ageing, needs time to unravel
its great potential. 13,5 Vol.-%. cork, €€
90 2018 Trarbach Schlossberg
Riesling halbtrocken
Ripe and spicy nose, ripe peach, apple, flowers, also hints of
pineapple and wood and a dash of bay leaf. Lean and firmly
built on the palate with fine phenolic layering, juicy, spicy and
rounded. The slatey mineral tinge provides highlights.

89 2018 Spätburgunder Rosé trocken
Scents of wild berries, strawberries and raspberries, also a
blade of mace and vanilla. Juicy and soft on the palate, the
mild acidity blends in well, firm in its structure, not too sweet
with a fine saltiness and spiciness. To drink al fresco, gastronomically

89 2018 Trarbach Taubenhaus
Riesling feinherb
Apple on the nose followed by mirabelle plum and lime
peel, also some herbal notes. A cheerfully flowing Riesling
with lively acidity and good freshness, finely rounded off by
the fruity sweetness. Herbs, citrus notes and tart mineral
nuances conclude the finish. 11 Vol.-%, screwcap, €
