Tradition and progress are the twin pillars
on which our family estate stands,”
the Hochdörffer family reports, being
the seventh generation to make wine. They
farm around 45 hectares of vines, many of
which have been in the family’s possession for
generations. “This has shaped us and created
this strong bond for the region and its wines,”
they emphasize. David Hochdörffer has been
responsible for winemaking since 2012. We
tasted an engaging and multi-faceted range of
wines which makes us look forward to what is
yet to come.

Riesling trocken
Intense smoky nose of flint and saffron, lightly roasted grain
waft from the glass. On the palate; finely balanced acidity is
paired with a delicate creamy sweetness, there’s a fresh reverberation
of citrus and green apple notes. A nice food wine.

Spätburgunder trocken
Milky coffee and cappuccino on the nose as well as concentrated
black cherry. Juicy onset for a brief moment on the
palate, then powerfully grainy, dense, taut tannins, vivid acidic
nerve, rather defensive fruit, but proper stuffing for a long

Intense golden yellow colour. Fragrant herbal nose including
asparagus and ground elder. On the palate there is substance
and a strong structure; creamy with a little bit of perceived
sweetness, well integrated, juicy with a modest but
refreshing finish. 13 Vol.-%. screwcap, €
89 2019 Grauer Burgunder trocken
Very beautiful delicate copper-gold colour. Restrained on the
nose, some yellow fruit, pear and citrus, then a delicate tarragon
herbal note. On the palate, refreshingly juicy, slenderly
built, the elegant sweetness is well integrated.

Clear in the glass with beautiful light green reflections.
Clear scent of hay, white flowers, green almond kernels
and mirabelle plums. At first slender on the palate with
good acidity and notes of apples followed by a powerful finish.
