Even if he is no longer in the first flush of
youth, Manfred Rothe has kept his inquisitive
spirit and innate curiosity.
His skin-fermented white wines made in
qvevri and barrel are an arresting flavour experience.
Even his estate wines already show
minerality which he knows how to tease from
the Triassic limestone. He makes wines that
are just predestined for the table. Thus it follows
that a bistro and wine garden have been
added to the estate. A place of pleasure, as
Rothe puts it: “Nature in its finest guise with
organic quality.”

Scents of wood, spices, menthol, apple and allspice. On the
palate there is great volume, lively, high-quality phenolics
and ripe supporting acidity. Seems very calm and balanced,
young, well-judged maceration. Great potential.

Strong colour. On the nose wood, intense yellow-fruited aromas,
mirabelle plums and balsamic spice. A supple, almost
creamy onset is followed by a dry phenolic framework, mealy
tannic structure which tames the alcohol very well. Still

Yeasty aroma, which is still very closed. On the palate, broad
and poised with a very fine phenolic texture, ripe acidity with
fullness and at the same time with delicacy and freshness. A
beautiful tactile-mineral interplay on the finish.

A berryish Pinot scent with spicy depth, truly Burgundian in
style, with integrated, discreet use of wood. Juicy palate, fine
tannin grain, round and smooth in the background, ripe acidity,
still compact on the palate but with juiciness and minerality.

Fresh on the nose, herbal, a little yeast and flint. Supple on
the palate with fine acidity and slightly salty perceptions.
A juicy Silvaner, accurate in all components, with a distinct
