The Riesling from the Niersteiner Pettenthal
in the 2019 vintage, caused
quite a stir at our tasting table: appreciative
murmurs, delight and a commensurate
score. This wine depicts both character and
terroir of the Roter Hang, or Red Slope, exactly
– and it is just one example for the many oenological
possibilities that Eric Manz turns
into a reality. His portfolio of exquisite sites
has by now grown to 30 hectares. He knows
how to set the scene for his Pinots with just the
right amount of woody spice, his rich red “Cuvée
M Réserve” will satisfy even demanding
palates. Compliments!

Ripe fruit nose with warm stone, herbs and ripe yellow fruit,
showing the character of the Roter Hang. On the palate there
is a firm and powerful structure, good density, balanced acidity,
the powerful extract is accompanied by juice and spice,
pronounced minerality. 13,5 Vol.-%. cork, €€€

91 2019 Weinolsheim Kehr Riesling trocken
Compact nose with some smoke, apple and stone fruit, relatively
closed, opens slowly. Powerful and compactly-built
with noticeable sweetness which sits well with the acidity.
Phenolic tartness, good balance, elegance with juiciness and
fine spice. 13 Vol.-%. cork, €€
91 2019 »Réserve« Chardonnay trocken
Buttery nose, some pumpkin, white flowers and a smoky ambience.
Voluminous on the palate with a powerful structure,
juicy and with fine sweetness, texture and spice, great
smooth balance. Good ageing potential. 13,5 Vol.-%. cork, €€
92 2015 »Cuvée M Réserve« trocken
Blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Mitos. Powerful,
spicy nose of dark cherries, mulberry, elderberry and blackcurrant,
roasted and smoky aromas and hints of pepper. Powerfully-built
with strength, volume and vivid acidity. Rich,
with texture, spice and a round full finish.

Riesling trocken
Juicy stone fruit on the nose of peach, apricot and mineral
notes. On the palate a juicy and fine sweetness, mineral
notes echo in a powerful structure with good substance
and balance, creamy, consistent and with good length.
