No, we still love Eva Fricke’s Rieslings
very much – yet, this year it was her
sparkling wine Pinot Noir Rosé brut
nature that surprised us most with its vinous
smoothness. Eva Fricke also presented successful
2019 Rieslings: her Rheingau Riesling
is balanced with aplomb and was turned into
our Falstaff tip. Her Lorcher Riesling sits at
the top and shows drive and mineral tension.
“Mélange” convinces with phenolics and extract.
We can safely say that all these Rieslings
will continue to unfold. We practice patience
and will drink the appetizing sparkling wine in
the meantime.
91 2019 Lorch Riesling trocken
Deep lemon yellow. Clean and precise aroma of yellow apple,
lime and pear. On the palate, the lively acidity carries the fine
aroma of orange blossom, lemon and blackcurrant leaf. A
clearly focused Riesling with a good finish.

91 2019 »Mélange« Riesling trocken
Golden yellow in the glass. Subtle nose with scents of mirabelle
plum, apricot and a touch of blackcurrant. On the palate
there is phenolic and extract as well as the above aromas,
complemented by lemon zest and a petrol note. Lively
acidity leads to a good finish. 13 Vol.-%, cork, €€€
90 2019 Lorch Schlossberg Riesling
Golden yellow. Yellow fruit on the nose with a clearly-recognisable
scent of very ripe grapes. On the palate peach, nectarine,
pineapple jam, lime as well as a light petrol note.
Good acidity carries this slightly sweet wine.

92 2016 Pinot Noir Rosé brut nature
Light pink to onion skin colour, a very fine, quite precise Pinot
scent with red berries and spice. On the palate, supple attack
of acidity, a hint of phenolics, dynamic mousse, that gains
good volume but is not coarse. Extra-crunchy finish. Very vinous.

90 2019 Rheingau Riesling trocken
On the nose, a scent of fully ripe apple, lemon and lime. On
the palate, the lively acidity balances a versatile aroma of
peach, mandarin and lemon peel. Light minerality in a medium-weight
body takes the wine to a good finish.
