In this super-talented region, it is family-run
wine estates like that of Thomas
August Perll who ensure that viticulture
will continue in these steep slopes where cultivation
is difficult and cumbersome. Each little
grape is earned by the sweat of the brow in
these unforgiving vineyards. Notwithstanding
this, the wines always have a generosity that
encourages you to take a big sip: like the animating
medium-dry Kabinett from the Fässerlay
site. The 2019 vintage thus delivered both
dry and medium-dry Auslese styles: a new image
of this region amidst global warming.

Riesling Kabinett halbtrocken
Pale golden yellow. On the nose a medium intensity of ripe
apple, grapefruit and lemon zest. On the palate quite intense
flavours of honeysuckle, lemon and delicate herbal spices
embraced by a very lively acidity with medium body and a
good finish. 12,5 Vol.-%. synthetic closure , €
of rose blossoms followed by lemon zest and green apple. On
the palate powerful, spicy with fresh primary fruit and lively
acidity. Sufficient structure and good finish.

Riesling Spätlese trocken
Yellow-fruited scents followed by notes of Auslese. Powerful
on the palate, underlying acidity, gaining intensity on the finish,
not least due to stronger composed phenolics. A sturdy,
substantial and almost atypical powerful Mittelrhein Riesling.

Riesling Spätlese halbtrocken
Some hints of botrytis on the nose, honey notes like clover
honey, slate nuances, yellow-fruits and a dash of bergamot.
Very sweet on the palate, elegant, but compared to the intense
sweetness a rather restrained acidity. Needs time to
evolve. 12,5 Vol.-%. synthetic closure , €

Medium lemon yellow. On the nose subtle and a breezy whiff

Riesling Kabinett
Medium lemon yellow reflections. Very ripe nose with aromas
of yellow apple, mango, pineapple and some fruitflavoured
sweets. On the palate there is medium body,
a recognisable structure and lots of primary, sweet fruit
sufficiently -balanced by vintage-typical juicy acidity.
