Jens Windisch is not amongst those winemakers
who doctor their wines with all
sorts of additives to make them smoother,
more obliging or compliant. He also has
clear convictions in the vineyard: no herbicides,
bio-diverse ground cover between vine
rows, fertilisation with homemade compost.
The current range of wines that this thirty-something
winemaker presented suggests
another leap forward: The Harxheimer
Schlossberg Riesling made in a granite vessel
shows Wether’s purist style in the highest possible
resolution. We look forward to seeing
what happens next.

Riesling trocken
Complex citrus fruit of kumquat, dried lemon peel and
bergamot. Silky, poised opening, a very round, finely-textured
mid-palate, elegant acidity, lots of juiciness and
mineral interplay. Very long, finessed finish.

91 2019 Harxheim Lieth Silvaner trocken
Yellow-fruited nose, slightly buttery, clearly herbaceous and
chalky mineral tones. Rich on the palate, taut substance on
the midpalate, firm acid backbone, tight extract and mineral.

90 2019 »8grad 14minuten« Riesling trocken
Lemon balm, lemon peel and slightly smoky, restrained aroma.
On the palate juicy, relatively broad and poised, intense
citrus fruit, ripe, slowly increasing acidity on the palate,
slight residual sugar but with a focused finish.

89 2019 »Weiss« trocken BC/MT/GS
Fragrant, fresh mint, lily of the valley, nutmeg, white pepper
and wet sand. Striking acidity, strong tactile minerality
and touch of carbon dioxide. A very dry, emphaticallyfresh
white with nuanced spice finish.

Finely-nuanced aromas of hay and herbs, slightly nutty underpinnings.
A fine, very clear Sylvaner scent. Silky and
juicy on the palate, medium fruit concentration and body,
delicious phenolics, rock solid in style, fresh, appetising,
good food wine. 12,5 Vol.-%, screwcap, €€
