There are winemakers who approach
viticulture and oenology with analytical
means and yardsticks. Regine Minges,
however, is not amongst them. “I trust my
gut feelings,” she says, “making decisions with
the heart, I am curious, impulsive and rather
emotional.” She runs the family estate of 25
hectares, organic certified since 2010 together
with her father. She says that “her pulse beats
in tune with nature, whose energy she wants to
transfer to the bottle as a kind of - mediator.”
The wines are like the winemaker herself: expressive,
full of tension, emotion and feeling. A
strong performance!
94 2019 Burrweiler Schäwer Riesling GG
Blood orange and yellow plum on the nose. On the palate
there is a profound texture but also a firm extract, both mineral
and phenolic. A powerful wine with great intensity and
exceptional depth. Very aromatic on the finish.
13 Vol.-%. cork, €€€
93 2019 Gleisweiler Hölle Unterer Faulenberg
Riesling GG
Lovely floral scent, apple blossom, honey, kumquat. Dense,
homogeneous phenolics on the palate; pithy acidity, taut and
bundled, disciplined alcohol, mineral. Currently still very introverted,
with a strong disposition for an exceedingly long
bottle age. 13,5 Vol.-%. cork, €€€
92 2019 Böchingen Rosenkranz Im untern
Kreuz Weissburgunder GG
Fruity, powerful and also floral nose; blossom, apricots, a
hint of marzipan. Juicy and spicy on the palate, with good
density and substance, phenolic richness. Combines classic
and modern Pfalz. Stylish and long, fine saltiness on the finish.
13,5 Vol.-%. cork, €€€
93 2017 Böchingen Rosenkranz Zinkelerde
Spätburgunder GG
Pinot scent on the nose; violets, rose, cherries, crushed juniper
berries, smoke and wood spice. With good substance and
tension on the palate, strong acidity, dry and juicy, the tannins
are prominent and still slightly astringent.
Will age well – potential. 13,5 Vol.-%. cork, €€€
