Below, Error Types correspond to <strong>descriptions</strong>.<br />

If the switch detects: Then it:<br />

1. Attempt to clear the alarm (reset board location).<br />

2. If alarm persists, replace circuit pack.<br />

q. Error Type 3586 <strong>and</strong> 3999: switch removed hyperactive circuit pack that reported threshold<br />

number of <strong>error</strong>s. One or more of the following symptoms can be present:<br />

● Circuit pack port <strong>test</strong>s return NO BOARD.<br />

● List configuration comm<strong>and</strong> shows circuit pack <strong>and</strong> ports are installed properly.<br />

If Error Type 3999: And traffic<br />

volume is:<br />

Does not accompany Error<br />

Does not accompany Error<br />

Accompanies Error Type<br />

3586<br />

1 <strong>error</strong>, Resets circuit pack.<br />

2 <strong>error</strong>s in 15 minutes, Raises MINOR alarm.<br />

Then:<br />

Heavy Circuit pack is in service, but sent at least half<br />

hyperactive threshold. With heavy traffic, this is<br />

normal.<br />

Light Circuit pack is in service, but sent at least half<br />

hyperactive threshold. With light traffic, this <strong>error</strong><br />

indicates a problem with the circuit pack, its<br />

links, or the equipment attached to the links.<br />

Either Light<br />

or Heavy<br />

Switch removed hyperactive circuit pack.<br />

1. Enter busyout board location <strong>and</strong> release board location to reset the<br />

circuit pack.<br />

2. Allow 30 minutes for condition to clear itself.<br />

3. To re-establish circuit pack into service manually, enter busyout board location,<br />

reset board location, <strong>and</strong> release board location.<br />

4. If <strong>error</strong> recurs within 15 minutes, replace the circuit pack.<br />

5. If the same <strong>error</strong> occurs on a different circuit pack, follow normal escalation<br />

procedures.<br />
