MIM is a level 3 message that conveys management and maintenance
information between a communications system and a BRI terminal.
For endpoints of this type, the signaling link is “bound” when the link is connected at Layer
2 and the link has been associated with an endpoint, [that is, the endpoint has completed
SPID initialization (L3 established)].
● ASAI adjuncts and BRI endpoints not administered for MIM initialization (point-to-point):
For endpoints of this type, the signaling link is “bound” when the link is connected at Layer
2 (L2 established).
For every endpoint type, a signaling link becomes “unbound” when it is disconnected at Layer 2.
For BRI endpoints supporting MIM initialization, a signaling link may also become “unbound” if a
subsequent attempt to perform SPID initialization on a “bound” link fails (that is, wrong SPID is
entered into the endpoint by the user).
This test runs on ASAI-EPT (ASAI Endpoint) and BRI-SET, Various Adjuncts.

2. After completing step 1, execute test port long PCSSpp, and
review the results of the BRI Port Local LAN Loop Around test
(#618) to verify the repair.
