Observe all caution, warning, <strong>and</strong> danger statements to help prevent loss of service, equipment<br />

damage, personal injury, <strong>and</strong> security problems. This book uses the following safety labels <strong>and</strong><br />

security alert labels:<br />

CAUTION: A<br />

WARNING: A<br />

DANGER: A<br />

SECURITY ALERT: A<br />

! CAUTION:<br />

caution statement calls attention to a situation that can result in harm to<br />

software, loss of data, or an interruption in service.<br />

warning statement calls attention to a situation that can result in harm to<br />

hardware or equipment.<br />

! DANGER:<br />

danger statement calls attention to a situation that can result in harm to<br />

personnel.<br />

! SECURITY ALERT:<br />

security alert calls attention to a situation that can increase the potential for<br />

unauthorized use of a telecommunications system.<br />

Safety precautions<br />

When performing maintenance or translation procedures on the system, observe all caution,<br />

warning, <strong>and</strong> danger admonishments to prevent loss of service, possible equipment damage,<br />

<strong>and</strong> possible personal injury. In addition, the following precautions regarding electromagnetic<br />

interference (EMI) <strong>and</strong> static electricity must be observed:<br />

Electromagnetic interference<br />

This equipment generates, uses, <strong>and</strong> can radiate radio frequency energy. Electromagnetic<br />

fields radiating from the switch may cause noise in the customer’s equipment. If the equipment<br />

is not installed <strong>and</strong> used in accordance with the instruction book, radio interference may result.<br />

WARNING: To<br />

maintain the EMI integrity of the system, maintenance personnel must ensure<br />

that all cabinet panels, covers, <strong>and</strong> so forth, are firmly secured before leaving the<br />

customer’s premises.<br />
