Port Diagnostic Test (#35)<br />

FAIL ALARM-PT: The port’s battery feed chip is unable to supply sufficient<br />

power to sense the external device alarm. This may occur when the<br />

<strong>test</strong> is performed at the same time that the external device contact<br />

closure occurs.<br />

1. Enter <strong>test</strong> external-device-alarm port location to<br />

determine whether the port is reporting an EXT-DEV failure. Wait<br />

until the port has no EXT-DEV failures before re<strong>test</strong>ing.<br />

2. Retry the comm<strong>and</strong> at 1-minute intervals up to 5 times.<br />

ANL-16-L, ANL-LINE, AN-LN-PT, MET-LINE, RANL-STA: The port's<br />

battery feed chip is unable to supply sufficient power to the terminal<br />

equipment. This may occur when the <strong>test</strong> is performed at the same<br />

time the terminal equipment goes off-hook.<br />

1. Enter display port location to determine the station<br />

extension of the port.<br />

2. Enter status station to determine the service state of the<br />

port. If the port is in use, wait until it is idle before <strong>test</strong>ing.<br />

3. Retry the comm<strong>and</strong> at 1-minute intervals up to 5 times.<br />

4. If the <strong>test</strong> continues to fail, determine whether the customer is<br />

experiencing problems on this line. Replace the circuit pack or<br />

media module only if the customer is experiencing problems.<br />
