Yellow Alarm Inquiry Test (#141)<br />

Once the Yellow alarm is confirmed, all trunks on the DS1 board are put into the out-of-service<br />

state. The Inquiry <strong>test</strong> will be run every 10 minutes until the Yellow Alarm is cleared. When the<br />

Yellow Alarm is cleared, all trunks on the DS1 board are restored back to their previous service<br />

state before the Yellow Alarm was raised.<br />

The Yellow Alarm corresponds to the yellow F2 state documented in CCITT recommendation<br />

I.431.<br />

This <strong>test</strong> is run on the following maintenance objects:<br />

● DS1-BD (DS1 Interface Circuit Pack)<br />

● MAPD-BD (MAPD Interface Circuit Pack)<br />

● MG-DS1 (DS1 Interface Media Module)<br />

● UDS1-BD (UDS1 Interface Circuit Pack)<br />

Remote Multiframe Alarm<br />

A Remote Multiframe Alarm (RMA) indicates that the remote DS1 endpoint is in a Loss of<br />

Multiframe Alarm condition while the DS1 board is administered using the DMI-BOS<br />

common-chel signaling. The RMA is h<strong>and</strong>led as a Yellow alarm.<br />

Yellow F5 State Alarm<br />

For 32-chel E1 operation with CRC4 on, the F5 fault state is defined as a fault in the<br />

user-network interface, specifically in the direction from the user to the network. Refer to CCITT<br />

recommendation I.431<br />
