El presente estudio describe la importancia competitiva que tienen los productos orgánicos<br />

como es el caso del café Mexicano y se tiene como finalidad mostrar los beneficios que trae<br />

consigo el comercio de productos con certificación orgánica, nuestro caso de estudio es el<br />

café.<br />

Los hallazgos evidencian el alza en la demanda en la última década de los productos<br />

orgánicos en los países desarrollados, representando un área de oportunidad para los<br />

pequeños productores de café orgánico de nuestro país.<br />

Abstract<br />

Undoubtedly, coffee and tea is the most popular drink in the world and more rooted in<br />

occidental cultures and better known throughout the world.<br />

The following data attest to the importance of coffee:<br />

a) After oil and wheat, is the third largest in the world commodity turnover.<br />

b) On a global scale, are consumed daily around 1,600 million cups, whose value is<br />

estimated at approximately 200,000 million pesetas.<br />

c) It is grown in 78 countries and in some, it is the main source of income.<br />

Because of this it is easy to conclude that coffee is part of a world so complex (Carmona<br />

Lopez, 1999).<br />

The research work is to show the benefits that brings trade certified organic products, our<br />

case study is coffee.<br />

In this study it was found that the demand for organic coffee, in developed countries like<br />

the EU, U.S. and Japan, is constant, including the consumption of organic products is a<br />

stable market, so the conventional coffee consumption decreased.<br />

It is relevant to note that organic products are cultures in which no chemicals are used. The<br />

transgenic crop varieties are not accepted. When foods are processed, not use artificial<br />

additives or preservatives. In food processing, using natural ingredients that do not alter its<br />

nutritional quality.<br />
